Physical and Functional HAT/HDAC Interplay Regulates Protein Acetylation Balance

Physical and Functional interaction between HATs and HDACs regulates gene expression; HATs and HDACs enzymes are simultaneously present on the regulatory regions of target genes, and their opposing activities play a pivotal role for transcriptional competence. The use of selective HDAC inhibitors allows to restore the acetylation balance lost in several pathological conditions.
