Scanning electron micrographs of (a) human and (b) bovine eyes, showing the transition between the peripheral cornea and anterior portion of the trabecular meshwork. There is a distinct transition area in the human tissue but the transition is more abrupt in the bovine one. The samples were coated with gold and imaged at an accelerating voltage of 4 kV and a working distance of 8 mm using a SE2 detector (Gemini LEO 1550 SEM). Scale bar = 20 μm.
