dCASQ-null mice did not express any of the two CASQ isoforms. Western blot analysis of total homogenates prepared from hind limb (a), EDL, and Soleus (b and c) muscles showed that (i) in CASQ1-null muscles CASQ1 was missing, whereas CASQ2 was still present, more in Soleus (slow twitch) and less in EDL (fast twitch); (ii) in dCASQ-null muscles both isoforms were absent.
