Enhancement of Phosphate Absorption by Garden Plants by Genetic Engineering: A New Tool for Phytoremediation

<table>Phosphorus measurements of At<i>PHR1</i> transgenic plants. Phosphorus concentrations in the leaves of At<i>PHR1</i> transgenic plants of potted torenia, petunia, and verbena were measured. The longitudinal axis shows the phosphorus amounts per gram fresh weight (mg/gFW). Significant differences in means between host and transgenic plants were detected for all three species.</table>
