Protective Efficacy of N-(2-Hydroxyphenyl) Acetamide against Adjuvant-Induced Arthritis in Rats

Figure 1

Effect of NA-2 (5 mg/kg) on the latency of paw withdrawal from the thermal stimulus induced by radiant heat in arthritic and nonarthritic rats. Each value in line graph represents Mean ± SEM of 12 animals/group. A significant decrease ( ) in the latency time of arthritic animals compared to normal animals was observed from day 12 onward. Treatment with NA-2 given 30 minutes before the test was conducted exhibiting an increase in latency time of animals from day 8 which significantly increases ( ) from day 12 as compared to nontreated arthritic group. Treatment with indomethacin also increases latency time from day 8 which becomes significant ( ) from day 12 compared to nontreated arthritic group till the end of experiment.
