Schematic representation of the BHP technology used to design de novo antigens in order to induce the production of neutralizing antibodies. A specific region of a large antigen, that is known to promote the neutralization of the biological activity of the antigen or promote its opsonization, is inserted into BlaP. This approach can also be used to elicit the production of specific, neutralizing antibodies against polypeptides that are insoluble, difficult to express (i.e., ChBD, [13]), and poorly immunogenic (such as STa, [9]).
