Effects of uranium on gene expression of enzymes of cholesterol metabolism in the liver. The gene expressions were measured in control animals (NC: noncontaminated) and in animals contaminated by uranium in their drinking water at various concentrations (0.2, 20, 40, and 120 mg/L). The mRNA levels are expressed as a ratio to the reference gene HPRT (hypoxanthine-guanine phophoribosyltransferase, a housekeeping gene).
