Exercise Training Could Improve Age-Related Changes in Cerebral Blood Flow and Capillary Vascularity through the Upregulation of VEGF and eNOS
Figure 6
Effect of exercise training on the level of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the brain microvessels of sedentary-young (SE-Young), sedentary-aged (SE-Aged), immersed-aged (IM-Aged), and trained-aged (ET-Aged) rats. The VEGF level was significantly lower () in the SE-Aged ( pg/mg protein) and IM-Aged ( pg/mg protein) groups compared with the SE-Young group ( pg/mg protein). The level of VEGF in the ET-Aged ( pg/mg protein) group was significantly increased when compared with the IM-Aged group ( pg/mg protein). , significantly different from the SE-Young group. , significantly different from the IM-Aged group.
