A Short-Term Incubation with High Glucose Impairs VASP Phosphorylation at Serine 239 in response to the Nitric Oxide/cGMP Pathway in Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells: Role of Oxidative Stress

Figure 8

Effects of a 20 min preincubation with the PKC inhibitor chelerythrine (2.5 μmol/L), the NADPH-oxidase inhibitor apocynin (10 μmol/L), and the mitochondrial electron transport chain complex inhibitor rotenone (10 µmol/L), on the 8-Br-cGMP-induced VASP phosphorylation at Ser 239 in the presence of 25 mmol/L glucose. Blots are representative of four different experiments. Chelerythrine and apocynin significantly increased the extent of 8-Br-cGMP-induced VASP phosphorylation in the presence of glucose 25 mmol/L ( for both), which was not modified by rotenone ( ).
