It utilizes the phenomenon that the expression profiles of gene pairs in same pathway have stronger correlations than those in different pathways to detect the driver mutation pathways. In blue dashed box, the genes have very weak expression correlations between each other, while, in the blue real line box, the genes with approximate exclusivity are strongly correlated with each other.
