Silencing miR-21 Sensitizes Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer A549 Cells to Ionizing Radiation through Inhibition of PI3K/Akt

Knockdown of miR-21 promoted NSCLC A549 cells apoptosis via inactivation of PI3K-Akt pathway. Apoptosis induced by 8 Gy ionizing radiation in anti-miR-21- (or anti-miR-NC-) transfected A549 cells combined with (or without) PI3K activator IGF-1 treatment (10 ng/mL) was detected through annexin V-FITC/PI staining by flow cytometric analysis.
