Mitogenic Effects of Phosphatidylcholine Nanoparticles on MCF-7 Breast Cancer Cells

Figure 3

Viability of MCF-7 breast cancer cells incubated with phosphatidylcholine (PC) nanoparticles. Breast cancer cells were incubated for 24 hours ((a) and (b)) and 48 hours ((c) and (d)) with PC nanoparticles dispersed at 0.01 and 0.1% (w/v) or vehicle (Ct) in buffer pH 5.0 and buffer pH 7.0 in the absence ((a) and (c)) or the presence ((b) and (d)) of serum. After incubation, cell viability was evaluated using the CellTiter 96 aqueous nonradioactive cell proliferation assay (Promega). Triplicates were run for each treatment. Values were expressed in terms of percent of untreated control cells set as 100%. Data are expressed as the mean ± S.E.M. of the indicated number ( ) of independent experiments. Statistical analysis was performed by ANOVA. Different letters denote significant difference at , whereas results with the same letter are not statistically different from each other.
