Estimation of the adhesion and internalization indices of T. gondii in LLC-MK2 cells (a) and murine macrophages (b) pretreated with lidocaine (57.5 μM, 115 μM, and 230 μM) for 20 minutes before the addition of parasites at 37°C for 10 minutes. In LLC-MK2 cells, both adhesion and internalization were reduced at all concentrations. In macrophages, a significant reduction was observed only for internalization. The parasite loads were quantified microscopically. The data shown are the means ± SE of duplicated points from three independent experiments. . The results were normalized.
