Histopathological analysis of the ovary at 5 dpi: mock-infected control (a), ruptured follicles (b), interstitial hemorrhage (c), lymphocytic infiltration (d), smooth muscle degeneration (e), and small vessel hyperplasia (f) can be seen. Pathological changes in the testes at 5 dpi, mock-infected control (g), reduced sperm production, mild interstitial fibrous hyperplasia, spermatocytic swelling, vacuolar degeneration, and desquamation (h) can be seen. The pathological changes progressed, becoming more severe at 9 dpi; focal lymphocytic infiltration was observed (i). Images (a), (d), (e), (g), (h), and (i) were taken at ×200 magnification; Images (b), (c), and (f) were taken at ×100 magnification.
