Integrin α5 expression knockdown reduces EAEC strain 042 fibronectin-mediated binding to epithelial cells. HEp-2 cells nontransfected and transfected with scrambled or integrin α5 shRNA were preincubated with DMEM only (control) or medium supplemented with fibronectin (Fn) and then infected with EAEC strain 042.
