In Vitro and In Vivo Leishmanicidal Activity of Astronium fraxinifolium (Schott) and Plectranthus amboinicus (Lour.) Spreng against Leishmania (Viannia) braziliensis

In vitro antileishmanial activity of essential oil of P. amboinicus at 2.5% in 1% DMSO and ethanolic extracts (from bark, stem bark, and leaf) of A. fraxinifolium at 2.5 mg/mL incubated with 106 promastigotes of L. braziliensis during 24 h, 48 h, and 72 h. The parasites were fixed in formaldehyde, stained with Trypan blue and visualized at light microscope at 400x magnification.
