Identification of Endothelial Progenitor Cells in the Corpus Cavernosum in Rats

Flow cytometric analysis of EPC-specific marker expression in the rat corpus cavernosum. To determine the existence of resident EPCs in rat corpus cavernosum, CD34 and Flk-1 were used as EPC markers and double-positive cells (EPCs) were measured by flow cytometry. As shown in the figure, EPCs made up 3.31% (CD34+/Flk-1+) and 3.31% (CD34+/VE-cadherin+) of the rat penile corpus cavernosum. The results are representative of four individual experiments.
