Time course of lesion development in C57Bl/6 WT (■) and BALB/c (○) mice infected with Leishmania (V.) braziliensis (HPV6, UAF5, and WSS5) or Leishmania (V.) guyanensis (PLR6). Mice were infected with promastigotes in stationary phase of growth (5 × 106 parasites) into hind footpads. The lesion size was expressed in mm (infected minus control contralateral paw thickness).
