Animal Models of Depression and Drug Delivery with Food as an Effective Dosing Method: Evidences from Studies with Celecoxib and Dicholine Succinate

Chronic intraperitoneal injections increase depressive-like behaviour in the forced swim test. In comparison with control group, mice that received daily intraperitoneal saline injections over the course of three weeks had a nonsignificant reduction of the latency of floating (a) and significant increase of the total number of floating episodes (b) and total time spent floating (c). There were no significant differences in mean velocity (d) or distance swum (e) between control and injected groups. ; versus control (unpaired -test). Con: control group ; i.p. injection: a group of mice subjected to intraperitoneal injections with a vehicle . All data are means ± SEM.
