β-Catenin-Dependent Signaling Pathway Contributes to Renal Fibrosis in Hypertensive Rats

Levels of p-Ser9-GSK-3β in 2K1C hypertensive rats treated with lisinopril. Western blot analysis of total GSK-3β and p-Ser9-GSK-3β in the unclipped kidney from 2K1C rats treated or not treated with lisinopril was performed. The unclipped kidney showed an induction in the phosphorylation of Ser9-GSK-3β; the treatment with lisinopril reversed this effect on the GSK-3β phosphorylation. The level of protein was normalized to total GSK-3β and β-actin levels and the ratio was expressed as relative units normalized to sham rats.
