No membrane damage in the presence of serum proteins. A549 cells were incubated for 5 h with increasing concentrations (1, 10, 50, and 200 μg mL⁻¹) of Si-25 and Si-85 in complete medium (DMEM with 10% FBS). Concentrations in brackets refer to the area of a 12-well plate. LDH assay of supernatant was performed and no membrane damage could be observed compared to the unexposed control cells. Percent of cytotoxicity ± SD of 3 independent experiments is shown.
