Membrane damage in the absence of serum proteins. A549 cells were incubated with increasing concentrations (1, 10, 50, and 200 μg mL⁻¹) of Si-25 and Si-85 in serum-free medium (DMEM with 0% FBS). LDH assay was performed after 5 h incubation. Only exposure to 200 μg mL⁻¹ Si-25 induced cell damage compared to unexposed control cells. Error bars represent SD of 3 independent experiments.
