Immune Mechanisms in Vascular Disease and Stroke

Description

Atherosclerosis, hypertension, and stroke are leading causes of global morbidity and mortality. There is growing recognition from studies of mouse models that immune mechanisms fundamental for the development atherosclerosis also play an essential role in the development of hypertension and stroke. These studies have provided essential knowledge towards potential clinical translation for the treatment of these conditions.

We invite investigators to contribute original research papers and review papers that will stimulate continuing efforts directed towards a better molecular and cellular understanding of the immune mechanisms that underpin atherosclerosis, hypertension, and stroke. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Activation and effector mechanisms of the innate and adaptive immune cells in the genesis of atherosclerosis, hypertension, and stroke
  • Homing of innate and adaptive immune cells to lesions and sites of blood pressure regulation and ischaemic brain damage
  • Role of putative autoantigens
  • Immunotherapeutic approaches
  • Human studies of immune mechanisms

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/bmri/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/bmri/immunology/imvd/ according to the following timetable:
