Elastography

Call for Papers

Ultrasound elastography is a new technique that generates images or quantitative data based on the stiffness of a tissue. Tissue stiffness changes in many disease states, including softening of edematous tissues or hardening of malignant lesions. There are two types of elastography clinically available, strain and shear wave. Both of these techniques have been demonstrated to help detect and characterize cancers in many organs. This technology is still early in its development and standardization of data acquisition and interpretation are now being developed.

We particularly take an interest in manuscripts that report the use of elastography to improve detection and characterization of cancers. Basic science papers which describe new techniques and methods to use elastography in a clinical setting are also encouraged. Comparative studies between existing technologies (conventional ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging) are also topics of interest. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Breast cancer
  • Prostate cancer
  • Liver cancer
  • Liver fibrosis
  • Thyroid cancer
  • Gyn cancers
  • Pediatrics
  • Other abdominal cancers
  • Methods to semiquantitate strain imaging
  • Comparison of strain and shear wave imaging
