Molecular Imaging for Personalized Medicine

Description

With the advent of personalized medicine we will see medical decisions, practices, and/or products being tailored to the individual patient. Diagnostic testing will be required to select appropriate and optimal therapies based on the patient’s genetic profile or other molecular or cellular analysis. Multimodality molecular imaging may play a critical role in selecting appropriate patients and providing early, noninvasive proof of response.

In this special issue, we invite physicians and scientists to submit original research articles relating to the application of molecular imaging to personalized medicine. Clinical and translational articles are welcome, and cutting-edge reviews relevant to this topic will also be considered.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • PET, SPECT, MRI, CT, and ultrasound in personalized medicine
  • Molecular imaging of biological heterogeneity of cancer and other human diseases
  • Molecular imaging of tumor microenvironment and its role for guided personalized cancer managements (such as systemic therapies, locoregional radiation, and others)
  • The role of molecular imaging for selecting appropriate and optimal therapies
  • The development of novel probes (tracers) toward molecular imaging based personalized medicine
  • The development of novel molecular imaging strategies toward personalized medicine
