Nanobiotechnology

Description

Nanobiotechnology is a term that refers to methods and techniques inspired in biology to develop products at the nanometer scale. This modern concept describes the way nanotechnology is used to create devices in order to study biological systems. It is based on the overlapping of multidisciplinary sciences such as photonics, chemistry, biology, biophysics, nanomedicine, and engineering, all of them converging to create novel molecular machines that are similar to nature to sense and deliver biomacromolecules.

We invite authors to submit original research and review articles that explore new approaches on the development of products or processes to address medical/biological problems, especially those developed for diagnosing, preventing, and treating and curing disease as well to improve the quality of life of patients affected by chronic malignancies. We are particularly interested in the development as well as in the response of the biological systems to the nanodevices. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Challenges on the production of nanodevices with safety and low toxicity
  • Nanodevices used for detection and diagnosis of cancer cells and infectious diseases
  • New approaches in drug and gene delivery systems for treatment of cancer and other diseases
  • Recent advances in nanocarriers for immunotherapy applications
  • Development of nanoscale tools for understanding the mechanisms of cellular function and for observing, manipulating, and quantifying the behavior of biomolecules and cell surface interactions

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/bmri/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/bmri/nbt/ according to the following timetable:
