Advances in Molecular Pathway-Directed Cancer Systems Imaging and Therapy

Call for Papers

Molecular imaging science has been focused on imaging guidance in the areas of targeting epigenetic abnormalities and tumor microenvironment in overcoming resistance in cancers. Research in molecular imaging has been focused on translational imaging particularly in imaging guidance of therapeutic response prediction and monitoring in cancers. The effort in image-guided cell therapy, theranostic (radionuclides, beta- and alpha particles; metals) approaches in parallel with instrumentation development would be more comprehensive in the outcome assessment of patient response to treatment. To extend the threshold of being able to provide personalized therapy for cancer patients, the integration of imaging findings to genomic and proteomic system profiling and chemical biology are essential to validate targeted pathways. This special issue will cover advances in molecular imaging in pre-clinical drug discovery, image-guided biopsy and therapy and target validation for differential diagnosis using PET/SPECT hybrid with CT and MRI/MRS. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Molecular imaging concept and target validation in probe development
  • Development of cancer biomarkers for end point assessment
  • Integration of molecular imaging and cancer genomic and proteomic pathways
  • Image guidance of pathway-directed therapies
  • Advances hybrid imaging modalities in disease management
  • Molecular imaging science in drug development
  • Advances and challenges in the theranostic approaches in cancer systems
  • Translating Biomarkers to Personalized Medicine in Cancer Systems
