Advances in Molecular Diagnostics

Call for Papers

At present, people are facing serious global challenges in healthcare. Research in molecular diagnostics has provided us with the better understanding of molecular processes affecting human health, and diseases and the tools derived thereof are becoming the standard of care for treatment of cancer as well as infectious diseases. The availability of new sequencing methods, microarrays, microfluidics, and biomarker assays has made a shift toward developing diagnostic platforms, which stimulates growth in the field by providing answers to questions regarding diagnosis, prognosis, and best course of treatment, leading to improved outcomes and greater cost savings. It is equally important to identify and resolve existing challenges that impede the effective translation of validated diagnostic biomarkers from laboratory to clinical practice in order to see results from these efforts.

We particularly have an interest in manuscripts that report identification and characterization of genes and/or proteins, which serve as diagnostic biomarkers. Development of practical applications or methodologies for diagnosis and prognosis would be of great interest. Perspective reviews that summarize the advances in novel molecular diagnostic tools and the efficacy of various diagnostic platforms in both laboratory and clinical settings to predict the outcome are welcome. Moreover, papers dealing with criteria of optimal detection methods in clinical samples, leading to a guideline as a tool for clinical guidance, would also be submitted. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Identification of new diagnostic biomarkers
  • Novel diagnostic tools or methodologies
  • Development of diagnostic platforms
  • Technical advances in molecular diagnostics
  • Enhancement of current detection methods
  • Use of different diagnostic platforms in clinical settings

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/bmri/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/bmri/amd/ according to the following timetable:
