Endoscopic/External Approaches in Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery

Call for Papers

Endoscopic approach is well established in surgery of chronic rhinosinusitis (FESS–Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery) as well as in treatment of malignant sinonasal diseases. Endoscopic laser microsurgery is widely used for benign and malignant laryngeal diseases. Because of the tendency to minimize invasiveness of surgery, the endoscopy expands into other fields of otorhinolaryngology and head and neck surgery: neck soft tissue surgery (thyroid and parathyroid surgery), skull base surgery, and so forth. But on the other side, there are many examples where classical external approach is irreplaceable. There are even situations where both endoscopic and external approaches work effectively together.

We invite authors to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will deal with use of endoscopic and/or nonendoscopic approaches in otorhinolaryngology and head and neck surgery. We are particularly interested in articles describing indications, procedures, risks, complications, advantages, disadvantages, and comparison of both approaches. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Endoscopic/external approaches in rhinology
  • Endoscopic/external approaches in skull base surgery
  • Endoscopic/external approaches in laryngology
  • Endoscopic/external approaches in head and neck cancer
  • Endoscopic/external approaches in salivary gland diseases
  • Endoscopic/external approaches in thyroid surgery

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/bmri/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/bmri/otolaryngology/ent/ according to the following timetable:
