Cardiovascular Diseases: From Morphological to Molecular Imaging

Call for Papers

Cardiovascular diseases represent the most common causes of death in the western countries. During the past decade, new technologies improved the diagnosis of these conditions providing better management of the patients. Moreover, the development of new imaging techniques has led to deeper knowledge of mechanisms underlying pathology. Recently, hybrid techniques combined functional evaluation with anatomic characterization, thereby offering great potential for both diagnosis and management.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to integrate morphology and function assessment and to understand the molecular pathology underlying cardiovascular diseases.

We are interested in original as well as review articles that explore the role of the different imaging modalities in evaluating cardiovascular diseases. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Advanced cardiac ultrasound
  • Cardiac MR imaging of ischemic and nonischemic heart diseases
  • Advances in parametric mapping with CMR imaging
  • Evaluation of myocardial metabolism by magnetic resonance spectroscopy
  • Molecular imaging: the key for cardiac stem cell therapy
  • Characterization of atherosclerotic plaque: value of PET, CT, and MRI
  • Cardiac PET/CT and SPECT for the evaluation of known or suspected coronary artery disease
  • Nuclear medicine imaging of nonischemic heart disease
  • Advanced computed tomography coronary angiography
  • The role of CMR, PET/CT, and SPECT/CT in myocardial perfusion imaging
  • Hybrid PET/MR and PET/CT imaging of the heart: feasibility and clinical applications
  • New molecular imaging agents for cardiovascular diseases

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/bmri/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/bmri/molecular.imaging/cds/ according to the following timetable:
