Molecular Mechanisms Involved in Inflammation and Insulin Resistance in Chronic Diseases and Possible Interventions
Description
Inflammation and insulin resistance are present in several chronic diseases, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. Recent studies show a close relationship between these two factors, although the precise mechanisms are not completely understood yet. We invite authors to submit original research and review articles related to the interaction between inflammation and insulin resistance and possible interventions based on molecular targets. We are interested in articles that explore molecular aspects on inflammatory pathways interfering in insulin action, in different cell, animal, and human models. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Molecular basis of inflammation and insulin resistance
- Crosstalk between inflammatory pathways and insulin signaling
- Cell, animal, and human models to test and understand the interaction between inflammation and insulin resistance
- Factors leading to chronic inflammation in models of insulin resistance
- Identifying biomarkers of the chronic inflammatory state in different models
- Identification of new molecular targets for reducing inflammation in insulin resistance models
- New interventions for preventing or reducing insulin resistance based on molecular targets of inflammatory pathways
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jbb/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
