Therapeutic Potential of Natural Pharmacological Agents in the Treatment of Human Diseases

Call for Papers

The natural products produced by a living organism from the nature with significant pharmacological activity regulate various vital cell signaling pathways that cause mitogenic, cytotoxic, and genotoxic reactions leading to various disease pathologies. Several natural products derived from plants for thousands of years have been traditionally used to treat various types of human illnesses. Nowadays, most of the natural products are processed and developed as potential pharmacological agents with effective antioxidative, antimitotic, anti-infective, anti-inflammatory, antiangiogenic, and anticarcinogenic properties. Some natural products have been employed as lead compounds to obtain highly biologically relevant semisynthetic pharmacological derivatives with increased efficiency and efficacy for the therapeutic use. The aim of the special issue will be to assemble original research articles, clinical studies, and review articles describing the current findings on pharmacologically promising valuable natural products with remarkable therapeutic activities to control human diseases.

We invite authors to submit articles that explore aspects of therapeutic potential of natural products in the treatment of human diseases. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Pharmacology and biological activities of natural products
  • Mechanism of action of natural products
  • Natural products as enzyme inhibitors and receptor antagonists
  • Natural products as anti-infective and anti-inflammatory agents
  • Natural products as anticancer agents
  • Novel methods to identify the pharmacological activity of natural products
  • Elucidating the efficacy of natural products in controlling human diseases related to cardiovascular, central, and peripheral nervous system and the endocrine system
  • Immunomodulatory (immunosuppressive and immunostimulatory) effects in the treatment of human diseases
