Toxicity of Anesthetics

Call for Papers

The anesthesia has been improved all over the years. However, it can have impact on health, both in patients or animals anesthetized, as well as professionals exposed to inhaled anesthetics. Translational medicine has been improved to further understand the possible toxic effects of anesthetics. Nowadays, technologies enable evaluation of possible benefit/toxic effects of anesthetics at cellular/molecular level, pointing out a new look in this field of study.

We invite investigators to submit original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the possible effects of anesthesia and anesthetics. We are particularly interested in articles that evaluates the effects of anesthesia to further understand the mechanisms underlying toxicity or even possible benefits, including genetic material, oxidative stress, immune and central nervous system (CNS) evaluated in humans (anesthetized patients or professionals exposed to waste anesthetic gases) and animal models.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Biomarkers of toxicity, including genotoxicity, oxidative stress and immune response during or after anesthesia, or during occupational exposure
  • Impact of occupational exposure to waste anesthetic gases
  • Effect of anesthesia on biomarkers evaluated in animal model
  • Toxicity of anesthetics on CNS
  • Impact of anesthetic techniques in patients with cancer
