Representative histology. Cytospin preparations of Calu-3 cells after exposure to 72 hrs of normoxia or hyperoxia with or without +20 cmH2O pressure showed more swollen nuclei and intracellular vacuoles for pressure-treated cells than for the control and hyperoxia alone groups. Normoxia without pressure-exposed cells exhibited normal cellular histology.
