Schematic overview of the numerical method used to compute pressures and flows. During a “time loop,” a cardiac cycle with cycle time is simulated with time step . Subsequently, a hemodynamic convergence criterion () is computed to assess whether pressure and flow waveforms are in steady state. If not, subsequent cardiac cycles are simulated in a “hemodynamics loop” until convergence is achieved.
