Colour coded Doppler ultrasonography (same case as Figure 1). In the central part of the gland there are vessels (blue and red according to the direction of the blood flow in relation to the transducer). The amplitude and extension of the colour signal are suggestive of hyperaemia (in this case it was an acute inflammation of the submandibular salivary gland).
