Schematic representation for the mediation of DNA copy number aberrations effect on survival by messenger RNA. The 𝛼_𝑚 represents the change in messenger RNA levels as a result of one unit change in DNA copy number aberrations as modeled by a linear least squares regression. The 𝜆_𝑚 and 𝜆_𝑐 represent the regression coefficients for Aalen’s’ additive hazard model when the survival status is regressed on messenger RNA and DNA copy number aberration levels, respectively.
