Three-Dimensional Analysis of Tomographic Medical Images
Call for Papers
Medical imaging is a growing interdisciplinary field that has attracted considerable attention in the recent years. To use medical images in diagnosis and prognosis of diseases, the abundant data generated by medical imaging systems require computerized storage, processing, and visualization. Moreover, specific image analysis methods are essential for extracting quantitative information from medical images for a variety of clinical applications. To this end, advanced mathematical developments provide the bases required to develop optimal computational approaches.
The main focus of this special issue is on new developments and applications of three-dimensional image analysis techniques that can be used to address specific problems in tomographic medical images like computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET), single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), and optical imaging. This special issue will serve as an international platform for researchers who have an expertise in image processing, machine vision, pattern recognition, intelligent systems, statistics, and their applications to medical imaging data. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Tomographic image reconstruction
- Three-dimensional image registration
- Three-dimensional image segmentation
- Pattern recognition of three-dimensional ima
- Three-dimensional image visualization
- Tomographic image databases
- Data mining of tomographic images
- Analysis of three-dimensional image sequences
- Development of biomarkers from medical imaging data
- Identification of structural variations from tomographic images
- Three-dimensional image analysis for clinical applications
- Statistical analysis of tomographic imaging data
