Phage Display Informatics

Call for Papers

Phage display is an efficient laboratory technique that can be used to construct and screen combinatorial libraries of peptides and proteins displayed on the surface of bacteriophage. This technique has made a great impact on modern medicine. It has been widely used for epitope mapping, analysis of protein-protein interactions, prediction of drug target, and identification of enzyme substrates and inhibitors. Some antibodies and peptides derived from phage display technology have been developed into new drugs approved by FDA; others have shown promise for the development of diagnostics, vaccines, and the targeted delivery of therapeutics. In recent years, computational and mathematical methods play an increasingly important role in the translational medicine study using phage display.

The main focus of this special issue will be on the bioinformatics resources, models, algorithms, and programs of phage display and their applications in all fields, especially in medicine. The special issue will become an international forum for theoretical and experimental researchers using phage display technology. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Databases and benchmarks for phages, phage libraries, phage antibodies, and phage peptides
  • Mathematical models for designing phage libraries and biopanning
  • Methods for deep sequencing analysis of phage libraries and biopanning process
  • Data visualization tools, algorithms, and programs for phage display analysis
  • Computational methods for cleaning phage display data
  • Application of phage display technique to medicine
  • Application of phage display techniques to other fields
