Modeling the Distribution Characteristics of Urban Public Bicycle Rental Duration
Table 6
Applications of the study results.
Applications
Methods for applying results
Planning of public bicycle rental stations
Use the basic parameter such as the average rental duration, the rental duration corresponding to the maximum rental frequency, and the rental duration corresponding to 75% degree to determine a reasonable rental station interval. This will provide a basis for the planning of rental stations.
Determination of the number of bicycles allocated at stations
Use the concrete functional expression of the distribution characteristics to predict the origin-destination (OD) demand between public bicycle rental stations. This will provide a basis for the allocation of public bicycles at rental stations.
Public bicycle scheduling
Use the functional expression of the distribution characteristics of rental duration to establish a model that simulates the movement of public bicycles between stations and studies the dynamic scheduling of bicycle sharing systems.
