Advanced Dynamic Simulations in Transportation
Description
Advanced simulation methods have been widely applied in the field of transportation for driving behavior investigation, planning, design and operation of transportation systems, evaluation of transportation policy, and innovation of intelligent transportation systems (ITS). As the development of computer technologies, dynamic simulations even in a real time manner become more and more powerful and sophisticated in either practical applications or scientific research in the transportation field. There is a need to discuss and share experience in theoretical analyses, state-of-the-art techniques, and cutting edge case studies of advanced dynamic transportation simulations.
In this special issue, we invite authors to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will apply various advanced simulation techniques to explore the mechanism of transportation operation, effectiveness of intelligent transportation systems, driving behavior and traffic safety, and environmental influence under different transportation scenarios.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Macroscopic and microscopic traffic simulations for transportation policy analyses, traffic operation, and theoretical studies
- Advanced interactive simulations for driving behavior and traffic safety studies
- Human factor studies in driving simulation experiments
- Simulation modeling on mechanism of intelligent transportation systems
- Simulation evaluations on influences of transportation on environments
- Simulations in comprehensive transportation modes
- Verification and validation of traffic simulations
