Bifurcation in Deterministic Discrete Dynamical Systems: Advances in Theory and Applications

Description

Bifurcation theory is a major focus of recent studies in continuous and discrete dynamical systems. Central to this area of research is the question whether the qualitative properties of a dynamical system change when one or more of the parameters change. Indeed, the parameters can be viewed as controllers which can be fine-tuned to force the system under study to behave in a desirable way. In this special issue, we are interested in bifurcations pertinent to deterministic dynamical systems for which the underlying phase space is a continuum.

We invite researchers to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will support and stimulate the continuing efforts to understand both the theory and applications of the bifurcation behaviour of discrete dynamical systems. In particular, we are interested in articles describing recent developments in the theory and applications of bifurcation of discrete dynamical systems. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Bifurcations of fixed points, particularly period-doubling and Naimark-Sacker Bifurcations
  • Bifurcations of periodic orbits
  • Bifurcations of homoclinic and heteroclinic orbits
  • Numerical aspects of bifurcations
  • Applications of bifurcation theory
