Discrete and Dynamic Optimization Problems in Operations Management 2014
Description
Discrete and dynamic optimization is significantly important in theory and also has wide applications in operations management with subjects ranging from transportation programming, production planning, inventory control, layout design, revenue management, and financial engineering to supply chain management. The use of the theoretical mathematic tools to solve the management problem has drawn growing attention from both aspects of academics and practitioners, and recent development in this area has led to an improved understanding of the modern world that is more variant, dynamic, and unpredictable.
The aim of this special issue is to present original research and review articles on the latest theoretical, numerical, and practical achievements that will contribute to the field of discrete and dynamic optimization, in all branches of management science. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Discrete optimization such as combinatorial optimization and integer programming for routing, scheduling, and network design problems
- Dynamic programming for production planning, inventory control, human resource management, and revenue management
- Uncertainty/stochastic/robust programming for discrete or multiperiod problems
- Dynamic game for supply chain management and mechanism design
- Algorithms such as evolutionary algorithm for discrete/dynamic operations management problems
- Online optimization of complex systems
