High-Throughput Screening for Biomarker Discovery
Description
Biomarkers are indicators of disease occurrence and progression. They can be used to assess normal biological and pathogenic processes, or pharmacologic responses to a therapeutic intervention, and in some cases they may serve as potential drugs and prognostic targets. In the postgenomic era, the omics techniques have been applied and served as high-throughput screening for identification of potential biomarkers for pathogenesis of several diseases including cancer, genetic diseases, metabolic diseases, and infectious diseases. These biomarkers would lead to the understanding of the mechanism of pathogenesis and might be clinically useful as the molecular targets for better diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment.
We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts in the field of high-throughput screening of molecular biomarkers. We are particularly interested in articles describing the new technologies for biomarker discovery; advances in molecular genetics, epigenetics, and molecular diagnostics; new insights and current concepts on omics; the application and validation of biomarkers identified through the high-throughput screening.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Recent development in high-throughput screening of biomarkers
- Omics identification of molecular biomarkers including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and other relevant aspects
- Omics-based discovery of pathogen biomarkers as drug targets and diagnostic assays
- High-throughput identification of biomarkers for pathogenesis
- Potential use of biomarkers from high-throughput methods for diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic purposes
- Quality control and validation of biomarkers from high-throughput screening
