Differential Downregulation of E-Cadherin and Desmoglein by Epidermal Growth Factor

Localization of cadherins with endocytic trafficking markers. Colocalization experiments were conducted using immunofluorescence techniques and confocal microscopy as described in “Methods”. EGF treatment ranged from 2–12 hours, and experiments were repeated a minimum of 3 times. (−) indicates no colocalization at any timepoint; (±) indicates colocalization at the plasma membrane but not in cytoplasm; (+) indicates vesicular colocalization in at least one timepoint; (+++) indicates colocalization in vesicles at several timepoints.
