Involvement of Interleukin-10 in the Anti-Inflammatory Effect of Sanyinjiao (SP6) Acupuncture in a Mouse Model of Peritonitis

Figure 6

SP6 acupuncture activated the adrenal glands and increased the IL-10 levels in the regulation of carrageenan-induced peritonitis. Carrageenan produces an acute inflammatory response after 4 h in the peritoneal cavity of mice, with a large migration of leukocytes into the exudates, plasmatic extravasation and increase in inflammatory cytokine levels (TNF-α and IL-1β). SP6 acupuncture elicited pronounced anti-inflammatory effects by inhibition of leukocyte infiltration and abdominal vascular permeability, and increased IL-10 levels in peritoneal fluid.
