Significant Increase in Cytotoxic T Lymphocytes and Natural Killer Cells by Triphala: A Clinical Phase I Study

The absolute numbers of lymphocyte subpopulations before and after Triphala ingestion were shown. (a) The marked increase in CD16⁺56⁺CD45⁺ cells together with CD3^-CD8⁺CD45⁺ cells was found (*𝑃<0.05) after the 1st throughout the 4th week of this clinical phase. The CD19⁺CD45⁺ B lymphocytes showed significantly increase after the 4th week (*𝑃<0.05). (b) The significant decrease of CD3⁺CD4⁺CD45⁺, CD69⁺CD45⁺, and CD25⁺CD4⁺CD45⁺ T cells were found after Tripala ingestion (*𝑃<0.05). There was no significant change in the absolute numbers of CD3⁺CD45⁺ cells. The data were presented as mean ± SEM, 𝑛=20.
