NF-κB and STAT3 control inflammation and cancer. Nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) and signal transducers and activators of transcription 3 (STAT3), are transcription factors which activate pathways causing inflammation, transformation, angiogenesis, and metastasis. NF-κB and STAT3 are constitutively active in most cancers, and their suppression results in inhibition of tumor proliferation and invasion. Most chemopreventive agents act by inhibition of NF-κB and STAT3 pathways.
