Effects of SHS on IP-10 mRNA expression in the lung (a) and IP-10 protein level in BALF (b) of influenza virus infected mice (lower respiratory tract infection). BALB/c mice were administered orally with water or SHS from one day before to one day p.i. or 3 days p.i. as shown in Figure 2(b). The IP-10 mRNA expression in the lung of influenza virus infected mice was estimated at 2 day p.i. and 4 day p.i. with real-time PCR. The protein level of IP-10 in BALF of influenza virus infected mice was estimated at 2 day p.i. and 4 day p.i. with ELISA. Values represent means ± S.E. ( ).
