Figure 5: Effect of kaurenoic acid (KA) on Streptococcus mutans biofilm formation. S. mutans was inoculated into BHI broth with various concentrations of KA and cultured for 24 h at 37°C. The biofilms that formed on the dish surface were measured by staining with 0.1% safranin. Biofilm formation was significantly inhibited at 3 and 4 μg/mL KA.
